(1851) The 1851 census return for St George the Martyr, Southwark, registration district: London Road sub-district: enumeration district 12: described as: "Webber St (north side) No 19 (Pidmores) to No 1a next the Assembly Rooms - Valentine Row No 1 (Percivals) to No 18 - Angel Place, No 1 to No 15 (to railing) - Webber St (south side) from Riding School to Sturrack's inclusive - Webber Row (both sides) No 30 to Waterloo Road including Pape's Court - Cottage Gardens - Spiller's Court - Hedger's Court - Grotto Place & Gardens - and Williams Court." This area lay in the parish of St George the Martyr, Southwark. (1856) The Post Office London Directory for 1856 includes this 'Court Directory', listing alphabetically by surname and christian name the upper class residents of the capital with their postal addresses. 'In order to afford space for the addresses, the abbreviation "esq." for esquire has no longer been appended to each name in the Court Directory. It should be understood that such should be added to the name of every gentleman in the following pages to which no inconsistent addition is affixed.' Decorations, honours &c. are generally given. Some gentlemen appear who are also listed (as professional men, &c.) in the commercial section. Those with second residences in the provinces usually have the country address given as well.SHILCOCK. (1872) Return, “with Christian and Surname of each, of Infants Born in Irish Workhouses, or Admitted thereto when Healthy under Twelve Months Old, and attempted to be Reared therein during the Years 1872 to 1874, showing what has since become of them”. The returns from each poor law union workhouse give: Christian and Surname of Infant Born in the Workhouse, or Admitted Healthy, under Twelve Months; Year; and whether discharged, healthy, in hospital, or dead.
