New Zealand War Medal roll for the 70th (The Surrey) Regiment of Foot: for service in the New Zealand campaign 1863 to 1866: the rolls were compiled following a general order in 1869 and the medals were distributed in 1870. Men of the 14th Regiment who fought in the New Zealand War
(1863-1870)
New Zealand War Medal roll for the 2nd battalion of the 14th (Buckinghamshire) Regiment of Foot: for service in the New Zealand campaign 1863 to 1867: the rolls were compiled following a general order in 1869 and the medals were distributed in 1870. The 2nd battalion, despite being part of the Buckinghamshire Regiment, was raised at Mullingar in Westmeath in 1857, and was sent to New Zealand in 1860, where it took part in the war of 1863 to 1865. Men of the 40th Regiment who fought in the New Zealand War

New Zealand War Medal roll for the 40th (2nd Somersetshire) Regiment of Foot: for service in the New Zealand campaign 1863 to 1866: the rolls were compiled following a general order in 1869 and the medals were distributed in 1870. The regiment, although called the 2nd Somersets, was based at Birr in Offaly. It embarked for New South Wales 14 July 1852, and was moved to New Zealand in 1860; the men returned to England in 1866, and thence back to Ireland in 1869.MCGUINNESS. Soldiers' Balances Unclaimed
(1872)
The War Office, under 'The Regimental Debts Act, 1863' compiled and published lists of names of deceased soldiers whose personal estate was held by the Secretary of State for War for distribution amongst the Next of Kin or others entitled. These lists give full name (surname first), rank, regiment, and the amount of the estate unclaimed. During 1872 new lists XLIV to XLVI relating to recent deaths were issued, as well as republications of lists XXXIV to XXXVI, XXIV to XXVI, XIV to XVI and IV to VI from previous years showing details of balances still remaining unclaimed. There were two lists, one for men recommended for the Good Conduct Medal without a gratuity, and one for gratuities - £5 to a private, £10 to a corporal, and £15 to a serjeant. English Pupil Teachers training to become Schoolmistresses
(1877)
The Education Department set examinations for candidates for admission into training colleges, and to become teachers. This is the class list (in order of merit) of the pupil teachers who passed that examination at Christmas 1877. The list gives the candidate's name (surname first) (prefixed by an asterisk where she was examined on second-year papers), and the school in which engaged (N. for National School, Ch.
