On 7 October 1775 a loyal address of the 'Mayor, Burgesses, Clergy, Freeholders, and Inhabitants of the City of Bristol', 880 in all, was presented to king George III viewing 'with Astonishment the Conduct of a few disappointed Men, whose sophistical Arguments, and seditious Correspondences, have, in a great Measure, been the Occasion of deluding your American Subjects into open Rebellion', lamenting 'the Misfortune our American Brethren have brought upon themselves', and hoping 'that the Loyalty which prevails here, will soon convince our Fellow-Subjects in America of their Error, and bring them back to a just Sense of their Duty and Allegiance'. The address was presented to the king at St James's by fourteen gentlemen on the citizens' behalf, 'Which Address His Majesty was pleased to receive very graciously: And they all had the Honour to kiss His Majesty's Hand.'

Volume 2 of the Monthly Magazine and British Register contains issues 6 to 11, for July to December 1796, plus a supplement. Each issue included notices of news, marriages and deaths in and around London, and a section entitled Provincial Occurrences, 'including accounts of all Improvements relating to Agriculture, the Commerce, the Economy, the Police, &c. of every part of the Kingdom; with Notices of eminent Marriages, and of all the Deaths reported in the Provincial Prints: to which are added, Biographical Anecdotes of remarkable and distinguished Characters.'

The provincial sections of the Universal British Directory include lists of gentry and traders from each town and the surrounding countryside, with names of local surgeons, lawyers, postmasters, carriers, &c. (the sample scan here is from the section for Bath). The directory started publication in 1791, but was not completed for some years, and the provincial lists, sent in by local agents, can date back as early as 1790 and as late as 1797.

Hertfordshire gamekeepers (1752-1798)
Highly condensed abstracts of Hertfordshire Sessions Books and Minute Books were prepared by William le Hardy, and published for the County Council in 1935. Appendix VII is a list of gamekeepers registered under the various acts of parliament regulating the keeping and hunting of game. The gamekeeper's full name (surname first) is given; the manor on which he was responsible for preserving game; the name of the lord of the manor; the date of entry and the dates of the game certificates (e. g., 84 for 1784; 85-88 for 1785-1788).
