Exhibitors of Pigeons at Belle Vue (1874)
Manchester Fat Cattle, Poultry and Dog Show took place at the Zoological Gardens, Belle Vue, from 22 to 24 December 1874. This comprised the Second Great Annual Exhibition of Fat Cattle, Sheep, Pigs, Roots, and Corn, and the Fourteenth Annual Exhibition of Poultry, Pigeon and Dogs; for which this single joint catalogue was issued. The full names and addresses of exhibitors (and, where appropriate, breeders) were given, both in a general directory and in the detailed class lists of exhibits. The exhibits in this section were divided into pouters; carriers; dragoons; antwerps; jacobins; barbes; fantails; tumblers; beards or balds; nuns; magpies; turbits; swallows; archangels; owls; runts; and trumpeters.

Mining Fatalities: The Midlands (1875)
The fourteen Inspectors of Mines for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland made separate annual reports, each including a tabular account of fatal mining accidents within his area, giving date; sequential number of accident for the area for the year; the name of the mine; where situate; the owner's or agent's name; the full name of the person killed; his occupation; age; cause of death, and remarks. There are in all fifteen tables, for: Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and part of Somerset; Cumberland, Northumberland and Furness; Ireland; the Midlands; North and East Lancashire; North Staffordshire, Cheshire and most of Shropshire; North Wales (including an adjoining part of Shropshire) and the Isle of Man; Western Scotland; the rest of Scotland; South Durham, Westmorland and the North Riding of Yorkshire; Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Wiltshire, Monmouthshire and adjoining parts of South Wales; South Staffordshire and Worcestershire (the Black Country); the rest of South Wales; western Lancashire; and Yorkshire (other than the North Riding) and Lincolnshire.

The Education Department set examinations of trainee teachers at the various training colleges in Britain. This is the class list of the men who took examinations at Borough Road Teacher Training College at Christmas 1875. The names are given for the second year first, arranged by division in the examination (in order of merit for the first and second divisions), and then for the students of the first year, arranged similarly. Full names are given (with initials for middle names). The letter (D.) indicates that the candidate had obtained a certificate of competency as a teacher of drawing. The Education Department set examinations for candidates for admission into training colleges, and to become teachers. This is the class list (in order of merit) of the pupil teachers who passed that examination at Christmas 1876. The list gives the candidate's name (surname first) (prefixed by an asterisk where she was examined on second-year papers), and the school in which engaged (N. for National School, Ch. Church of England, B. British School, W. Wesleyan, R. Roman Catholic, P. Parochial, Bd. Board School, Indl. Industrial School).
