The list gives names, rank and seniority. The names may be preceded by an asterisk, for those who had completed 12 months' training in the Royal Navy; a further asterisk for 12 months' more service; a dagger for a certificate in a gunnery or torpedo short course; a double dagger for certificates in both. The abbreviations for rank are: A E, assistant engineer; A P, assistant paymaster; Cr, commander; E, engineer; L, lieutenant; Mid, midshipman; P, paymaster; S L, sub-lieutenant; S P, staff paymaster; Sen E, senior engineer; W E, warrant engineer. The first column 'Where serving' gives the number of the ship; the second column gives full name, surname first, but with middle names represented only by initials; the third column rank; and the fourth column seniority, i. e., the date of attaining that rank. Lieutenants whose seniorities are printed in italics are on the Supplementary List, and Engineer Lieutenants whose seniorities are printed are those not yet advanced.ANSON. | Civil Annuitants on the Bengal Establishment

The India List and India Office List was compiled from official records by direction of the Secretary of State for India in Council, and published by the India Office annually. It covers civil servants and military except for officers drawing substantive pay of less than 500 rupees a month. Names shown in italics are those of officers in foreign service, supernumerary, seconded or employed outside their own departments. This is the list of civil annuitants on the Bengal Establishment - civil servants who had been first appointed as far back as 1850, and on retirement received a government pension. Each man's surname and initials are given, with years of first appointment and commencement of annuity. It includes a small section of names of men on invalid and reduced pensions.ANSON. This Second Volume of the Second Series of the Harrow School Register was edited by J. H. Stogdon and published in 1925. The boys are listed by term of entrance, and then alphabetically by surname and christian names (in bold). Next, in brackets and in italics, is the school house to which he belonged - or, H. B. indicating a day boy whose family lived in Harrow. Stogdon then gives the father's surname and initials, and address. In cases where the boy was prominent in sports at school, or won academic prizes, scholarships &c., that is given; then the year of leaving the school; a synopsis of his career; and, where known, his address as of 1925, in italics. The Home Office issued monthly lists of aliens to whom Certificates of Naturalization or Readmission to British Nationality had been granted by the Secretary of State under the provisions of 33 Vic. cap. 14 and been registered in the Home Office pursuant to the act during each previous month. These notices, from January to December 1907, refer to naturalizations from December 1906 to November 1907. The lists give full name, surname first; country of origin; date of taking the oath of allegiance; and place of residence.
