Inhabitants of Harwich in Essex
(1790-1797)
The provincial sections of the Universal British Directory include lists of gentry and traders from each town and the surrounding countryside, with names of local surgeons, lawyers, postmasters, carriers, &c. (the sample scan here is from the section for Hull). The directory started publication in 1791, but was not completed for some years, and the provincial lists, sent in by local agents, can date back as early as 1790 and as late as 1797.

Hertfordshire gamekeepers
(1752-1798)
Highly condensed abstracts of Hertfordshire Sessions Books and Minute Books were prepared by William le Hardy, and published for the County Council in 1935. Appendix VII is a list of gamekeepers registered under the various acts of parliament regulating the keeping and hunting of game. The gamekeeper's full name (surname first) is given; the manor on which he was responsible for preserving game; the name of the lord of the manor; the date of entry and the dates of the game certificates (e. g., 84 for 1784; 85-88 for 1785-1788).

Hertfordshire hunters
(1784-1799)
Highly condensed abstracts of Hertfordshire Sessions Books and Minute Books were prepared by William le Hardy, and published for the County Council in 1935. An act of the 24th year of king George III instituted licences to kill game, which cost 10s 6d for registered gamekeepers, and 2 guineas for others. Appendix VIII is a list of persons granted two-guinea licences for killing game: in each case the full name (surname first) is given; occupation; residence; and the years during which licences were purchased (e. g., 92-93 for 1791 to 1793).ACRES. Freeholder voters in Middlesex
(1802)
A poll to elect two knights of the shire to represent the county of Middlesex, was held at Brentford 13 to 29 July 1802. The electors were the adult male freeholders of more than 40s per annum of real estate. This poll book lists the voters alphabetically by surname, giving christian name, abode, where the freehold was situate, the nature of the freehold (such as messuage, house, land, rent-charge &c.), the occupier's name, and whether the freeholder voted for William Mainwaring, George Byng or sir Francis Burdett. The entries are printed across facing pages, of which this sample shows part of a lefthand page. For each name indexed, the matching pair of scans is provided. This is the index to the freeholders.
