Sailors on board H. M. S. Zealous (1794-1798) His Majesty's ship the Zealous took part in the destruction of the French fleet in Aboukir Bay at the mouth of the Nile ('the Battle of the Nile') on the evening of the 1st and morning of the 2nd August 1798. This is the muster book for 1 August to 30 September 1798: being a continuation book in a series covering wages and victualling from May 1794, it also includes the names of some men who had died, deserted or been discharged from the ship from then to August 1798. Of the ship's complement of 590, this index covers the sailors, volunteers, and boys, as well as the supernumeraries: but not the marines, or the French prisoners taken after the battle. Inhabitants of Birmingham (1850) Francis White & Co.'s History, Gazetteer, and Directory of Warwickshire for 1850 lists nobility, gentry, clergy, other private residents, farmers and traders, hundred by hundred and village by village, with separate sections for the large towns. Traders and Professionals in Birmingham and Suburbs (1878) The Post Office Directory of Birmingham with its Suburbs, edited by E. R. Kelly, and published in 1878, has two main alphabetical lists - Court and Commercial. The suburbs included are Aston, Bickenhill Park, Birchfield End, Castle Bromwich, Erdington, Saltley (with Washwood Heath), Ward End (including Little Bromwich) and Witton, in Warwickshire; Handsworth (with Soho), Harborne, Perry Barr and Smethwick, in Staffordshire; and King's Heath, King's Norton, Moseley, Northfield, Selly Oak and Yardley (including Hall Green and Stechford) in Worcestershire. Boys entering Wellington College in Berkshire (1929) Wellington College, near Wokingham, was originally founded for the education of sons of military officers. A register of boys entering the school from First Term 1859 to Michaelmas 1933 was compiled by F. G. Lawrence for the Old Wellingtonian Society. In each entry the boy's name is given in full, in bold, surname first; age at entry (usually 11 to 14); then, in brackets, the name of the dormitory or house to which he belonged, in italics, with the years of his stay; then his father's name (usually surname and initials, but not christian name) with military decorations where appropriate. School prefects and captains are noted as such; if the boy played cricket for the school, XI with the years; academic honours, scholarships, &c.; a brief biography; and date of death, or (where known) address in 1933. Congregationalists (1935) Who's Who in Congregationalism gives biographical notices of accredited ministers and evangelists, lay pastors and lay officials of the Congregational church in Britain and Ireland. Members of Cambridge University (1935) The Cambridge University Calendar for 1935-1936 includes this list of all living members of the university, i. e. not only undergraduates and members of staff, but also all surviving graduates from earlier generations. The names are arranged alphabetically by surname, then by college in order of foundation, and under the particular colleges by order of seniority of the B. A. degree. Surnames are given, initials, name of college, and then the years of graduating B. A. and M. A. Where a change of name had occurred since matriculation, the original name is inserted in brackets. For undergraduates the term of matriculation is given in square brackets with an M for Michaelmas, L for Lent or E for Easter. An asterisk before a surname indicates a member of the Senate. Names which appeared on the roll of the Regent House promulgated in November 1934 are marked with a dagger. Prominent Inhabitants of Birmingham (1949) The Birmingham Post Year Book and Who's Who is an annual publication seeking to give comprehensive information about the city's organizations and its eminent residents. The Year Book has separate sections dealing with the City Council; the Municipal Elections; Municipal Departments; The High Court of Justice; Members of Parliament for the City; Political Associations; Government Departments; Trade and Industry; Birmingham Consular Association; Banks and Branches; Birmingham Stock Exchange; Restaurants and Cafes; Health; Churches and Religious Congregations; Freemasons; Education; Child Care; Youth; Cultural Activities; British Broadcasting Corporation; Sports and Pastimes; Philanthropic and Kindred Institutions; County and Kindred Societies; International Societies; United Nations Association; Clubs; Transport; The Forces; Toc H.; Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes; Electricity and Gas Boards; Law List; Chartered Accountants; Incorporated Accountants; Certified and Corporate Accountants; Chartered Secretaries; Surveyors, Auctioneers, Land Agents and Valuers; Architects; Civil Engineers; Mechanical Engineers; Electrical Engineers; and Old Boys' Associations. Inhabitants of Liverpool (1955) Kelly's (Gore's) Directory of Liverpool and District includes this alphabetical list of residents and traders, with names, addresses, and (where applicable) telephone numbers. Covering a large area around Liverpool, the directory includes Bootle, Birkenhead and Wallasey, and thus the populous areas of southwest Lancashire and of the Wirral peninsula of Cheshire. KEESEY.
