Boys entering Rugby School
(1845)
This edition of Rugby School Register was published in 1933: the volume covering 1675 to 1857 contains 6480 entries, based on the original school admission registers, but elaborated with general biographical information wherever the editor was able to do so. The entries for the 17th and early 18th centuries are much less detailed than those for later years. The arrangement of the fullest entries was to give the boy's full name (surname first, in bold); whether eldest, second, &c., son; father's name and address as of when the boy entered school; the boy's age at entry and birthday; name of the house (in the school) to which he belonged; then a brief general biography; and date and place of death. Men-at-the-Bar
(1885)
Joseph Foster's Hand-List of Men-at-the-Bar gives a paragraph biography of men who had been called to the bar and were alive in 1885. After the full name (surname first, in capitals) there is a short statement of occupation or practice; a student at which inn of court; when called to the bar; father's name and then address; when born; if married, and, if so, wife's name (and her father's name) is often given. Natural Sciences students at Cambridge University

Tripos lists or examination results for the year, arranged by class (First, Second and Third), and within each class in alphabetical order. Each student's surname and college is given. The few women students are listed separately, but classed according to the same system. These lists are particularly useful in identifying for an individual the fellow-students who will have attended lectures with him; and, where from the college, are likely to have been even more closely associated by having been under the same supervisor. Boys entering Westminster School
(1883-1893)
This supplement to the Westminster School Register was published in 1894. It lists boys entering the school from October 1883 to October 1884. They are listed alphabetically by surname and full christian names (in bold), with name, address and (often) occupation of father; sometimes mother's name and maiden name; date of birth; date of admission; and date of leaving.
