A poll to elect two burgesses to represent the town and borough of Northampton, was held there 12 to 20 June 1826. This poll book lists the voters alphabetically by surname, giving christian name, abode, occupation (in italics), and whether they voted for sir George Robinson, sir Robert Henry Gunning, or William Leader Maberly.

| New Superannuation Allowances: Customs Officers: London
(1847)
The annual return for 1847 of 'Allowances or Compensations granted as Retired Allowances or Superannuations in all Public Offices or Departments' lists new compensation allowances (usually for loss of office under reorganization), superannuation allowances (for retirement), and temporary allowances (for sickness or accident) arising during the year; and the cessation of such allowances by death (or occasionally because the individual has been re-employed, or the allowance has remained unclaimed for six years). The format of the returns varies from department to department, but generally the details of a new allowance give full name or surname and initials, office, age, length of service, affliction, and rate of allowance. The lists of deaths give full name or surname and initials, office, date of death, and the amount paid in the year. Throughout the death returns the column 'annual amount' means 'the amount actually paid out during 1847', rather than the yearly amount of the allowance.

|  Outstanding soldiers of the 61st (South Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot

Each year just a handful of outstanding soldiers of the regiment were chosen for good conduct medals and gratuities: these are listed here. There were two lists, one for men recommended for the Good Conduct Medal without a gratuity, and one for gratuities - £5 to a private, £10 to a corporal, and £15 to a serjeant. Both lists are indexed here, and each gives rank, name, regimental number, date of recommendation and date of issue. (The sample scan is from the 32nd foot). The war medal roll for the Egyptian campaign of 1882 is annotated to show those men actually present at Tel-el-Kebir, and thereby also entitled to the Tel-el-Kebir clasp. In addition, there follows an almost duplicate roll of men entitled to the Bronze Star granted by the Khedive of Egypt in recognition of the campaign. The 2nd battalion, The Highland Light Infantry, embarked for Egypt in 1882, took part in the battle of Tel-el-Kebir, and returned to England the following year. Both the 1st and the 2nd battalions, Seaforth Highlanders (Ross-shire Buffs, The Duke of Albany's) served in this campaign. The 1st battalion embarked for Bombay 21 February 1871. After returning to Aden 25 February, the battalion was sent to Egypt 2 August 1882, returning to England 15 October 1882. The 2nd battalion embarked for India 16 February 1879, but a large contingent joined the 1st battalion for the Egyptian campaign, and Seaforth Highlanders took part in the battle of Tel-el-Kebir.MARKIE.
