(1790-1797) The provincial sections of the Universal British Directory include lists of gentry and traders from each town and the surrounding countryside, with names of local surgeons, lawyers, postmasters, carriers, &c. (the sample scan here is from the section for Bath). The directory started publication in 1791, but was not completed for some years, and the provincial lists, sent in by local agents, can date back as early as 1790 and as late as 1797.

(1840) The register of electors entitled to vote in any parliamentary election for West Norfolk between 1 November 1840 and 1 November 1841 lists 7,620 freeholders arranged by hundred and within hundred by parish or township &c. In the first column, after number within the register, the elector's name is given (surname first); the second column gives place of abode; the third column the nature of qualification (such as 'owner and occupier'); and the fourth column the address of the qualifying property, in some cases with the name of the tenant or occupier.GILLBERT. | Insolvents in Debtors' Prison, Whitecross Street, London
(1853) Perry's Bankrupt and Insolvent Gazette was issued monthly on the 1st of each month. Volume 28, for 1853, comprises issues numbers 325 to 336. The contents, compiled from the official sources, are mainly summaries of proceedings in the bankruptcy and insolvency courts, names of creditors, dissolution of partnerships and similar matters that would be of interest to the commercial world and their solicitors. This section, entitled 'Estates vested in Provisional Assignees' lists insolvents whose cases were dealt with in the Insolvent Court, whether on their own petitions or those of creditors. These twelve monthly issues cover the proceedings of the court from 4 December 1852 to 26 November 1853. Within each session the insolvents are listed alphabetically by surname, with address, occupation, and the name of the prison in which then held.GILLBERT. | Boys entering Merchant Taylors' School in London
(1888) Merchant Taylors' School was founded by members of the livery company of the merchant taylors of the city of London in 1561 as a grammar school. By the 19th century this was a major English public school. In 1875 the school removed from Suffolk Lane, in the City, to a new building in Charterhouse Square in Finsbury. In 1907 the Reverend William Baker, a former headmaster, published this school register for the period 1871 to 1900, which we have indexed by year of admission. Each entry gives the boy's name in full (surname, christian name(s)); date of birth; names of both parents (middle names as initials); occupation of father; career summary; and (in italics) address as of 1907.GILLBERT.
