The return of the railway subscription contracts deposited in the Private Bill Office lists the shareholders in the Great North of England Railway, subscribers towards the £450,995 estimated expense of the project. The list gives witness's name, full name of each subscriber, residence, profession, and sum subscribed.

The provincial banks of England and Wales made annual returns to the Stamp Office of their proprietors or shareholders. These returns, registered in March 1838, from the 103 banks then in existence, contain the full names and addresses of nearly 30,000 shareholders.

The Royal Agricultural Society of England was founded in 1840 and rapidly attracted a wide membership of agriculturists. This list of members who joined between 1840 and 1841 was printed in the second volume of the society's journal. Joseph Romilly, registrar of the university of Cambridge, compiled Graduati Cantabrigienses, a catalogue of graduates from the academic year of admissions 1760 through to 10 October 1846. The names are arranged alphabetically by surname, and then chronologically by christian name: the college is given, with an asterisk in those cases where the man became a fellow, and then, in chronological order, his degrees.

The Board of Trade 19 April 1848 issued this list of all the masters and mates in the merchant service who had voluntarily passed an examination, and obtained certificates of qualification for the class against each assigned, under their regulations. The table gives the full name, class of certificate, and usually gives age, present or last previous service (name and tonnage of ship, sometimes stating in what capacity), number of register ticket (if any), where examined and when.
