The 31st (The Huntingdonshire) Regiment of Foot embarked for Corfu in 1853, and took part in the Crimean War. By 1860 it was in China, taking part in the capture of the Taku Forts. The regiment returned to England in 1863, and in 1866 to Ireland: the depot was at Chatham. In 1867 the troops were sent to Malta. Each year just a handful of outstanding soldiers of the regiment were chosen for good conduct medals and gratuities: these are listed here. There were two lists, one for men recommended for the Good Conduct Medal without a gratuity, and one for gratuities - £5 to a private, £10 to a corporal, and £15 to a serjeant. Both lists are indexed here, and each gives rank, name, regimental number, date of recommendation and date of issue. (The sample scan is from the 105th foot)

The 78th (Highland) Regiment of Foot (or Ross-shire Buffs) returned from India in 1859: the regimental depot was at Fort George. In 1865 the regiment was sent to Gibraltar, then on to Nova Scotia. Each year just a handful of outstanding soldiers of the regiment were chosen for good conduct medals and gratuities: these are listed here. There were two lists, one for men recommended for the Good Conduct Medal without a gratuity, and one for gratuities - £5 to a private, £10 to a corporal, and £15 to a serjeant. Both lists are indexed here, and each gives rank, name, regimental number, date of recommendation and date of issue. (The sample scan is from the 105th foot)

New Zealand War Medal roll for members of the 3rd Waikato Regiment who volunteered for service in the Imperial Commissariat Transport Corps in the New Zealand campaign 1861 to 1866: the rolls were compiled following a general order in 1869 and the medals were distributed in 1870.

New Zealand War Medal roll for the 2nd battalion of the 14th (Buckinghamshire) Regiment of Foot: for service in the New Zealand campaign 1863 to 1867: the rolls were compiled following a general order in 1869 and the medals were distributed in 1870. The 2nd battalion, despite being part of the Buckinghamshire Regiment, was raised at Mullingar in Westmeath in 1857, and was sent to New Zealand in 1860, where it took part in the war of 1863 to 1865. In 1866 the men were sent to Australia, returning to England in 1870.

New Zealand War Medal roll for the 68th (Durham Light Infantry) Regiment of Foot: for service in the New Zealand campaign 1863 to 1867: the rolls were compiled following a general order in 1869 and the medals were distributed in 1870. The regiment embarked for India in December 1857, served in Burma, and was moved to New Zealand in 1864; the men returned to England in 1866.

The Baptist Messenger was produced monthly. The material indexed is mainly the Denominational Intelligence, i. e. the doings of the Baptist churches in Britain and Ireland, including summary lists of baptisms naming only the ministers. There are also some Baptist obituaries, and lists of donations to the Pastors' College at the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London.

Soldiers' Balances Unclaimed (1872)
The War Office, under 'The Regimental Debts Act, 1863' compiled and published lists of names of deceased soldiers whose personal estate was held by the Secretary of State for War for distribution amongst the Next of Kin or others entitled. These lists give full name (surname first), rank, regiment, and the amount of the estate unclaimed. During 1872 new lists XLIV to XLVI relating to recent deaths were issued, as well as republications of lists XXXIV to XXXVI, XXIV to XXVI, XIV to XVI and IV to VI from previous years showing details of balances still remaining unclaimed.
