Maldon Poll: Voters Resident in London and Environs

On 7 June 1826 and the fourteen following days (Sundays excepted) a poll was held to elect Members of Parliament to represent the borough of Maldon in Essex. The candidates were the Hon. George Mark Arthur Way Allanson Winn (W) of Warley Lodge, who received 1747 votes; Thomas Barrett Lennard (L) esquire of Regent's Park, London, 1454 (or 1455) votes; and Quintin Dick (D) esquire of Curson Street, London, 1401. In all 3113 electors were polled, 2527 living in Maldon and the country, 586 in London and its environs. This poll book is divided into two sections, the 586 voters from London &c being listed separately. The names are listed alphabetically by surname, then christian name(s), occupation (in italics), address; and the right-hand column shows the votes cast. Recommenders of Trainee Schoolmasters and Schoolmistresses in Ireland

'A Table of the Names of those Teachers admitted to be trained in the Male (or Female) Model-School' 6 January 1826 to 5 January 1827: giving number in the scheme, full name, attendance (date of entry and date of discharge), and by whom recommended; for which school trained; age; when commenced teaching; and religion. The training was undertaken for the Society for Promoting the Education of the Poor of Ireland; mainly for schools connected with the society. The recommenders were by and large gentry and clergy supporters of the society.

Voters in Northampton

A poll to elect two burgesses to represent the town and borough of Northampton, was held there 12 to 20 June 1826. This poll book lists the voters alphabetically by surname, giving christian name, abode, occupation (in italics), and whether they voted for sir George Robinson, sir Robert Henry Gunning, or William Leader Maberly.

People mentioned in cases heard in Chancery
(1826-1827)
James Russell, barrister-at-law, prepared reports of cases argued and determined in the High Court of Chancery during the time of Lord Chancellor Eldon. This is the volume for the 7th and 8th years of the reign of king George IV. Russell normally sets out for each case a narrative of the evidence presented to the court; then the arguments of the counsel for both sides, usually with reference to legal precedents; and then the judgment, in detail. This is the index to those persons mentioned in the narrative, and to principal parties not either plaintiff or defendant (ex parte, in the matter of). The evidence in these cases is often extensive, and of historical and genealogical interest; the incidents leading up to the suits usually took place in the preceding ten years or so, but in some cases the narrative stretches back much further, even to the 16th century.RICHARDSON.
