Volume 76 of The Law Times, 'The Journal of The Law and The Lawyers', a weekly publication, runs from 3 November 1883 to 26 April 1884. Much of the journal is taken up with law reports, leading articles, &c., and the 'Solicitors' Department' contains several regular features of great interest, including 'Creditors under 22 & 23 Vict. c. 35'. That was a piece of legislation introduced to protect executors and administrators from litigation (whether from kin or from creditors) after the assets of the deceased had been distributed, by allowing the publication of notices stipulating a Last Day of Claim, absolving the estate from later demands. These lists are therefore effectively those of the recently deceased whose affairs were in the process of being wound up; the index covers both the deceased and their solicitors.NOSSITER. In some cases they were for damages on properly disputed causes of action, but no distinction was made on the Register. Judgments settled otherwise than through the Court may appear, unless 'Satisfaction' was entered up within the fourteen days allowed for that purpose. | Naval Ratings Killed in 1915

The monthly lists of Royal Navy ratings killed from the start of the Great War from January to December 1915 are arranged alphabetically by surname and christian names, with rank, and official number. The lists include marines, merchant navy, reservists, and a few civilian canteen staff also killed in the conflict. Full names are given, except for a few cases where a middle name is represented only by an initial.

The London telephone directory lists subscribers alphabetically by surname and then by christian name or initials, with their postal address and telephone number. This is the L to Z directory issued in May 1939, but also contains some names from earlier in the alphabet, for instance in the separate section for midwives. The London telephone districts comprised not only the city centre, but also the very extensive suburbs in the Home Counties (Essex, Kent, Surrey and Middlesex).NOSSITER. The Navy List for 1957, corrected to 18 January 1957, includes this alphabetical catalogue of 'Officers on the Active List of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve and other Naval Volunteer Reserves'. The first column gives surname and initials, with name of ship, or CCF for Combined Cadet Force, or SCC for Sea Cadet Corps, in square brackets, and in round brackets if in the Royal Australian Naval Volunteer Reserve (RAN), Royal Marine Forces Volunteer Reserve (RMFVR), Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve (RNZN), Hong Kong Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (Hg Kg), Fiji Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (Fiji), Indian Naval Volunteer Reserve (IN), South African Naval Forces (SA), Pakistan Naval Volunteer Reserve (PN), East Africa Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (EA), Mauritius Naval Volunteer Reserve (Maur), Malayan Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (Mala), Royal Ceylon Volunteer Naval Reserve (RCyN), or Sierra Leone Naval Volunteer Reserve (Sa Ln). The second column is rank, with a profusion of abbreviations, most of which are self-evident, often qualified by a specialisation, in brackets. The third column is division in which serving; and the fourth column date of seniority (in italics for officers holding temporary commissions).
