Calcutta Birth Notices
(1856-1857) A compilation of birth notices from Calcutta newspapers published in England in the Indian Mail in 1857, and covering the period 28 October 1856 to 13 November 1857. Most of the births recorded took place within the Bengal presidency. Names of infants are not given; s. means 'gave birth to a son', d. 'gave birth to a daughter'.GOTTLIEB. Men-at-the-Bar
(1885) Joseph Foster's Hand-List of Men-at-the-Bar gives a paragraph biography of men who had been called to the bar and were alive in 1885. After the full name (surname first, in capitals) there is a short statement of occupation or practice; a student at which inn of court; when called to the bar; father's name and then address; when born; if married, and, if so, wife's name (and her father's name) is often given. (1906) The Home Office issued monthly lists of aliens to whom Certificates of Naturalization or Readmission to British Nationality had been granted by the Secretary of State under the provisions of 33 Vic. cap. 14 and been registered in the Home Office pursuant to the act during each previous month. These notices, from January to December 1906, refer to naturalizations from December 1905 to November 1906. The lists give full name, surname first; country of origin; date of taking the oath of allegiance; and place of residence.
