Jurymen in the North Riding of Yorkshire (1605-1612) The Quarter Sessions minute books for the North Riding from April 1605 to July 1612 were edited by the Rev. J. C. Atkinson for the North Riding Record Society and published in 1884. This is a calendar of sessional orders, minutes of criminal cases, memoranda and other entries of record concerning the administration of the riding, for the quarter sessions and special sessions held at Thirsk, Stokesley, Richmond, Malton, Helmsley, Northallerton and Topcliffe. PCC Probates and Administrations (1634) The Prerogative Court of Canterbury's main jurisdiction was central and southern England and Wales, as well as over sailors &c dying abroad: these brief abstracts, compiled under the title "Year Books of Probates", and printed in 1902, usually give address, date of probate and name of executor or administrator. They are based on the Probate Act Books, cross-checked with the original wills, from which additional details are, occasionally, added. Gentlemen and yeomen of the North Riding of Yorkshire (1647-1658) The Quarter Sessions minute books for the North Riding from October 1647 to January 1658 were edited by the Rev. J. C. Atkinson for the North Riding Record Society and published in 1887. These are abstracts of sessional orders, minutes of criminal cases, memoranda and other entries of record concerning the administration of the riding. Adult male householders of substance (gentlemen and yeomen) from the constituent townships in the riding were liable to serve on the quarter sessions juries, and lists of the jurors present are attached to each part of the proceedings. Apprentices registered at Bedford (1717-1719) Apprenticeship indentures and clerks' articles were subject to a 6d or 12d per pound stamp duty: the registers of the payments usually give the master's trade, address, and occupation, and the apprentice's father's name and address, as well as details of the date and length of the apprenticeship. There are central registers for collections of the stamp duty in London, as well as returns from collectors in the provinces. These collectors generally received duty just from their own county, but sometimes from further afield. Because of the delay before some collectors made their returns, this register includes indentures and articles from as early as 1716. Inhabitants of Hertfordshire (1723) An Act of Parliament of 9 George I required all men aged 18 and over who had not done so previously to swear allegiance. From 17 August to 24 December 1723 the greater part of the men of Hertfordshire attended at various inns in the county to sign the oath of allegiance: women were exempt from the act, but almost as many attended and swore. This list indicates the place of attestation by letters A., B., C., &c., for which there is a key, scans of which are included with the main scan for the surname. GRUNDON. Cost: £4.00. City of Westminster Voters (1780) The poll for the election of two citizens to serve in Parliament for the City and Liberty of Westminster was begun 7 September and ended 23 September 1780, the candidates being the Hon. Charles James Fox (F), Sir George Brydges Rodney, bart. (R), and the Right Hon. Thomas Pelham Clinton the Earl of Lincoln (L). In this poll book the names of all voters are given, by parish and within each parish by street, arranged alphabetically by surname and christian name, with the individual votes cast shown in the right hand columns. Pages 1 to 48 cover the parish of St George, Hanover Square; 49 to 100, St Martin; 101 to 134, St Clement and St Mary le Strand; 135 to 155, St Ann, Soho; 157 to 166, St Paul, Covent Garden; 167 to 170, St Martin le Grand; 171 to 224, St James; 225 to 274, St Margaret and St John.
