(1883) The annual report of The Society of Friends of Foreigners in Distress for 1883 includes an appendix listing the candidates newly elected to pensions 1 March 1883; the unsuccessful candidates; 88 persons receiving the pension of 5s a week; 122 at 2s a week; 10 at 7s a month; and 31 at 5s a month. There is also a section giving biographical sketches of some successful and unsuccessful candidates. Each of the lists, other than that of unsuccessful candidates, gives full name, age, and country of birth. In the case of existing pensioners, the year when elected is also stated.
