County Court Judgments: Middlesex
(1890) Extracts from the Registry of County Courts' Judgments. These judgments were not necessarily for debt. In some cases they were for damages on properly disputed causes of action, but no distinction was made on the Register. Judgments settled otherwise than through the Court may appear, unless 'Satisfaction' was entered up within the fourteen days allowed for that purpose. Visitors to Colwyn Bay from Manchester (1892) This beautiful resort on the Denbighshire coast became abuzz with holiday makers every summer, to enjoy the promenade, the sandy shore, boating and bathing. Lists of visitors staying in the hotels and boarding houses were compiled weekly, and make interesting reading: most of the visitors came in family groups, some with maids and/or a nurse.

Survivors of H. M. S. Victoria
(1893) Her Majesty's Ship 'Victoria' (or 'Orion') (flagship of vice-admiral sir George Tryon, Commander-in-Chief of her Majesty's Ships and Vessels on the Mediterranean Station) foundered after colliding with H. M. S. Camperdown off Tripoli 22 June 1893. The minutes of the proceedings of the subsequent court-martial (held on board H. M. S. Hibernia at Malta 17 to 27 July 1893) include this list of survivors, giving full name, number on ship's books, rank or rating, annotated to show those who remained in hospital, sick, or otherwise absent. | Sample scan, click to enlarge
