Unclaimed dividends from the Madras Tontine of 1795
(1820) A dividend of 42 per cent on the shares of the children's tontine established at Madras 2 March 1795 was declared by public advertisement to be payable 9 September 1816. A number of the shares were not claimed, and a table of the unclaimed shares was published in the Edinburgh Gazette in 1820. It gives the full names of the children, for whose benefit the shares were subscribed or to whom payable, number of shares on each life, amount of shares and amount of divided.
