Members of the Camden Society
(1844) The Camden Society for the Publication of Early Historical and Literary Remains was one of the leading antiquarian societies of its age. 1200 members paid £1 per annum in advance and received gratis whatever volumes were published by the society during the year. Members who paid an additional £10 thereby compounded for future subscription, and are indicated in this membership list (corrected to 2 May 1844) by the letter (c.).FAULKNER. New Members of the Phonographic Corresponding Society
(1844) The Phonotypic Journal, published weekly, contains lists of new members of the Phonographic Corresponding Society, alterations (such as changes of address), and lists of contributions to the Fund for purchasing a Phonotypic Fount. The lists of new members give full name (surname first) and address. This index includes the new members, the changes of address, and names (such as 'care of') occurring in the addresses.FAULKNER. Masters of Wrecked British Merchantmen
(1844-1845) The Nautical Magazine Register of Wrecks of British Shipping for 1845 lists in tabular form the casualties in the merchant shipping fleet from the end of 1844 to the end of 1845. The tables give the vessel's name, port to which she belonged, master's name, what port she set out from, intended destination, where and when she came to grief, and whether the crew were saved or drowned. Dissolutions of partnerships in England and Wales
(1845) Perry's Bankrupt and Insolvent Gazette, issued monthly, included lists of dissolutions of partnerships gazetted in England and Wales. The names of the partners are given in full, surnames in capitals, followed by trade and address, and date of the end of the partnership. Each entry usually ends with the phrase 'Debts by ...', indicating which partner intended to continue, and resume the responsibilities of, the business. Insolvents in England and Wales
(1845) Perry's Bankrupt and Insolvent Gazette, issued monthly, included lists of insolvencies and stages in the process whereby the insolvents petitioned for release from debtors' prison. Mariners' Church Donations
(1845) Each monthly issue of The Mariners' Church Soldiers' and Sailors' Gospel Temperance Magazine, published by the Temperance British and Foreign Seamen's, Soldiers' and Steamers' Friend Society, and Bethel Flag Union, to promote religious instruction and temperance moral reformation and general unsectarian missions in the British Empire, at home and abroad, contained a section of Acknowledgments of sums contributed by individuals or through the Bethel churches to the society's funds, and in support of the orphan home.
