| Grenadier Guards fighting in Egypt

The war medal roll for the Egyptian campaign of 1882 is annotated to show those men actually present at Tel-el-Kebir, and thereby also entitled to the Tel-el-Kebir clasp. In addition, there follows an almost duplicate roll of men entitled to the Bronze Star granted by the Khedive of Egypt in recognition of the campaign. The 2nd battalion, Grenadier Guards, took part in the 1882 campaign, including the battle of Tel-el-Kebir, and returned to England by the end of the year; the Egypt medals were distributed in December 1882, and the Khedive Star roll was compiled at Wellington Barracks in March 1883.CHURCHOUSE. | Outstanding soldiers of the Grenadier Guards
(1881-1901)
Each year the best soldiers of the regiment were chosen for long service and good conduct medals. This register gives rank, name, regimental number, and date of recommendation. (The sample scan is from the East Surrey regiment). The register is essentially a register of recommendations, annotated with details of the issue of the medals. Where no gratuity accompanied the medal, the entry is marked 'W. G.' (without gratuity); where, for one reason or another, the medal was not issued, the entry is marked 'N. S.' (not sanctioned) and struck through. The 1st battalion returned from Canada in 1864, and by 1885 was based at Dublin, and in 1895 was at Wellington barracks. The 2nd battalion returned from Egypt in 1882, and in 1885 was at the Tower of London. After another period of service abroad, it returned from Bermuda in 1891, and in 1895 was at Chelsea barracks. The 3rd battalion served in Egypt and the Soudan, adding "Egypt, 1882", "Tel-el-Kebir" and "Suakin, 1885" to the regimental honours; it returned from Egypt 10 September 1885, and was stationed at Windsor, and by 1895 at the Tower of London.CHURCHOUSE. The official register printed under the direction of the Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain pursuant to the act of 31 & 32 Victoriae, cap. 121 (An Act to Regulate the Sale of Poisons, and Alter and Amend the Pharmacy Act, 1852) comprised two sections:
1.The Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists, giving date of registration, number of examination certificate, full name (surname first, in capitals), and residence;

The Roll of Honour for the firm lists the men who joined his Majesty's forces, giving for each his surname, initials, and rank. The names of those killed in the conflict, missing or captured are noted as such. There are separate lists for Lower Priory and Dalton Street (divided into Offices, Travellers, Warehouse and General Staff, Retail, Broad Street, and Discharged); New Charford Mills, Saltley; and Charford Mills, Bromsgrove.

| Medical Practitioners in the Provinces
(1926)
The Medical Directory was split into several sections. The Provinces section covered all medical practitioners resident in England outside the London postal district (except those in Monmouthsire, who were listed under Wales). Each year a schedule was sent to each doctor to be returned to the publishers, so as to keep the directory up to date. In the directory the doctor's name is given first, in bold, surname first, in capitals; then current address. Next are the qualifications; the italic abbreviations in parentheses following the qualifications indicate the medical school at which they were gained. Then there is a list of posts and honours within the profession, starting with those then current; previous posts are preceded by the word 'late'. The Royal College of Surgeons, established by royal charters, issued this calendar 1 August 1928, including official lists of all its fellows, members, licentiates and diplomates. The register of fellows gives full name (surname first) and address (in italics), with dates of admission as fellow and member. The list of members gives year of admission, full name (surname first) and town or country of residence. The lists of licentiates give year of admission and full name, but no indication of current address: entries of fellows of the college are prefixed with a double dagger, those of members with an asterisk. The lists of diplomates give year of admission and full name (surname first), with those diplomates who were neither members nor fellows of the college indicated with a dagger.
