Stockton-on-Tees Voters: Stockton Polling District (1868)
This poll book for the First Parliamentary Election for the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees lists the voters alphabetically by polling district, with full name (surname first) and address. In the right-hand column D represents the Liberal candidate, Joseph Dodds, Esq., and V the Conservative, Lord Ernest Vane Tempest. The three polling districts were Norton, Stockton (including so much of Linthorpe as lay within the parliamentary borough of Stockton), and Thurnaby. At the end of each district the handful of lodger voters are listed separately.

New Zealand War Medal roll for the 40th (2nd Somersetshire) Regiment of Foot: for service in the New Zealand campaign 1863 to 1866: the rolls were compiled following a general order in 1869 and the medals were distributed in 1870. The regiment, although called the 2nd Somersets, was based at Birr in Offaly. It embarked for New South Wales 14 July 1852, and was moved to New Zealand in 1860; the men returned to England in 1866, and thence back to Ireland in 1869.

This list of Town Members is arranged alphabetically within fifteen districts (1 City; 2 Strand, Bloomsbury; 3 Pentonville, Islington, Highbury, Holloway; 4 Soho, St James's, Marylebone; 5 Camden Town, Kentish Town, Hampstead, Highgate; 6 Regent's Park, St John's Wood, Kilburn; 7 Paddington, Bayswater, Notting Hill, Acton, Ealing; 8 Brompton, Kensington, Hammersmith; 9 Westminster, Pimlico, Chelsea, Fulham; 10 Bishopsgate Without, Shoreditch, Finsbury, City Road, Hoxton; 11 Kingsland, De Beauvoir Town, Mildmay Park, Stoke Newington, Stamford Hill, Tottenham, Edmonton; 12 Whitechapel, Docks, Stepney, Limehouse, Poplar, Plaistow, Barking; 13 Spitalfields, Hackney Road, Bethnal Green, Mile End, Bow, Old Ford, Stratford; 14 Dalston, Hackney, Homerton, Clapton; 15 Southwark). Full name is given, surname first, and full postal address except in those few cases where the member subscribed through an agent.

The matriculation list of the University of London published in January 1870 shows all the students entering the university 1865 to 1869, but who had not yet taken an examination. The alphabetical list gives full name, surname first; year of matriculation; and the name of the school or college (or private study or the name of a tutor) of previous education.

Gun & Co. of 6 Prince of Wales' Road, London, in about 1870 published this fifth 'List of Next of Kin & Heirs, &c., who have been Advertised for in the English, Irish, Scotch, United States of America, Canadian, Australian, East and West Indian, and other Newspapers, since 1704. Money & Property to the value of many Millions Sterling want Claimants'. The list of 4,128 names gives surname, christian name, and, occasionally, locality. Copies of the actual advertisements were furnished to enquirers by the company at a cost of six shillings.

The New Zealand War Medal was awarded for service New Zealand campaign 1861 to 1866: this further progress report issued by the medal committee in Wellington 2 September 1871 lists officers and men of the colonial forces who had made application for the medal for services rendered prior to 31 December 1866, and whose claims had been admitted by the commissioners; as well as those whose claims had been rejected (with the reason); and also those officers and men included in the rolls formed by the late commissioners whose names also appear in the lists of those granted medals by the Imperial Government.
