(1785) The spa at Bath was a cynosure both for those wishing to take the waters, and for fashionable society seeking a little recreation. Lists of arrivals at Bath were printed in the Country News section of the Daily Universal Register for January 1785, generally speaking arranged in order of social precedence, headed by lords and ladies, and ending with unmarried women without title.
