The war medal roll for the Egyptian campaign of 1882 is annotated to show those men actually present at Tel-el-Kebir, and thereby also entitled to the Tel-el-Kebir clasp. In addition, there follows an almost duplicate roll of men entitled to the Bronze Star granted by the Khedive of Egypt in recognition of the campaign. The 1st battalion, The Black Watch (Royal Highlanders) embarked for Egypt in 1882 and served there and in the Soudan through to 1886, taking part in the battles of Tel-el-Kebir and Kirbekan, before being transferred to Malta. These medals refer only to the 1882 phase of the campaign, being distributed in Cairo at the start of 1883.

Volume 79 of Pitman's Journal, the weekly devoted to Pitman's shorthand, runs from 4 October 1919 to 25 September 1920. The names that occur in the pages are not only of shorthand enthusiasts, competitors (at home and abroad), contributors and advertisers, but also of those awarded Pitman's Shorthand Teachers Diploma.

The monthly report of the United Society of Boiler Makers and Iron and Steel Shipbuilders contains, as well as internal union business, reports of meetings; obituaries; warnings about named individuals falling into arrears, or becoming 'out of benefit'; members 'run out'; subscription sales; new members admitted; second class transferred to first class membership; apprentices admitted; apprentices transferred to adult membership; and 'unapproved' apprentices. Members are normally identified by surname and initial, with membership number as appropriate. These abbreviations also occur: 1st, first class; 2nd, second class; 3rd, third class; A.I.S., angle iron smith; App., apprentice; A.W., acetylene worker; C., caulker; D., driller; H-up, holder-up; P., plater; R., riveter; S.I.W., sheet iron worker. This list of the 9739 members of the Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland was printed in 5th series, volume 43, of the society's Transactions. The list, which gives year of admission, full name (surname first) and address, is set out alphabetically by county and show division - Aberdeen, Angus (Eastern and Western districts), Argyll, Ayr, Banff, Berwick, Bute, Caithness, Clackmannan, Dumbarton, Dumfries, East Lothian, Fife, Inverness, Kincardine, Kinross, Kirkcudbright, Lanark, Mid-Lothian, Moray, Nairn, Orkney, Peebles, Perth (Perth and Stirling show districts), Renfrew, Ross & Cromarty, Roxburgh, Selkirk, Shetland, Stirling, Sutherland, West Lothian, and Wigtown, with separate sections for members living in England & Wales, Ireland, The Colonies and Foreign Countries. In addition, prior to 1900 holders of the Agricultural Diploma and the First-Class Certificate in Forestry had been eligible for free life membership, and those surviving are listed separately in an appendix.
