The provincial sections of the Universal British Directory include lists of gentry and traders from each town and the surrounding countryside, with names of local surgeons, lawyers, postmasters, carriers, &c. (the sample scan here is from the section for Hull). The directory started publication in 1791, but was not completed for some years, and the provincial lists, sent in by local agents, can date back as early as 1790 and as late as 1797.

Bedfordshire Freeholders and Occupiers: Aspley Guise (1807)
A poll for two knights of the shire for the county of Bedford, was taken at Bedford from 11 to 22 May 1807, the candidates being Francis Pym esquire (1138 votes), the Rt Hon Richard Fitzpatrick (1084) and John Osborn esquire (1069). The poll book is arranged by hundred, and then by parish or township, giving the freeholders' names, residence, 'of what the freehold consists' (e. g. H. & L. for house and land), the occupier, and the vote cast. Non-voters are not listed: but at the end of each hundred there is a list of rejected votes, giving full name of voter, situation of the property, ground of rejection, and candidates for whom the votes were tendered.

Buckinghamshire Freeholders: Fenny Stratford (1831)
The poll of the freeholders of Buckinghamshire at the election of two knights of the shire to serve in Parliament, taken at Aylesbury 5, 6, 7 and 9 May 1831. The candidates were the Marquis of Chandos, John Smith esquire, and Pascoe Grenfell esquire. This poll book sets out the names of the voters in alphabetical order hundred by hundred and parish by parish. The freeholders' full names are stated, surname first, and the place of their abode (often elsewhere). The right hand column records their votes. The qualification for suffrage in the counties was the possession of a freehold estate worth more than 40s a year.

Pupil Teachers training to become Schoolmistresses (1875)
The Education Department set examinations for candidates for admission into training colleges, and to become teachers. This is the class list (in order of merit) of the women who took that examination at Christmas 1875, and who were awarded Second Class results. The first column gives the position in the exam results (no number is inserted where the candidate obtained the same marks as the last to whose name a number is prefixed); then there is the candidate's name (surname first); school in which engaged (N. for National School, Ch. Church of England, B. British School, W. Wesleyan, R. Roman Catholic, P. Parochial, Bd. Board School, U. Poor Law Union School); and then Training College at which examined. The Education Department set examinations of trainee teachers at the various training colleges in Britain. This is the class list of the women who took examinations at the Teacher Training College at Christmas 1876. The names are given for the second year first, arranged by division in the examination (in order of merit for the first and second divisions), and then for the students of the first year, arranged similarly. Full names are given (with initials for middle names). The letter (D.) indicates that the candidate had obtained a certificate of competency as a teacher of drawing.
