Inhabitants of Bridgnorth in Shropshire (1790-1797)
The provincial sections of the Universal British Directory include lists of gentry and traders from each town and the surrounding countryside, with names of local surgeons, lawyers, postmasters, carriers, &c. (the sample scan here is from the section for Bridgnorth). The directory started publication in 1791, but was not completed for some years, and the provincial lists, sent in by local agents, can date back as early as 1790 and as late as 1797. This particular list was included in the appendix of late returns.

The 1851 census return for St Mary Newington, Surrey, registration district: St Peter Walworth sub-district: enumeration district 23: described as: "All that Part of the Parish of St. Mary Newington, which Comprises East St. (North side) from John St. to Flint St, Flint St. (East side) & West side to Deans Buildings, Including Park Place (both sides), Huntsman St., Little Park Place, Park Road, & Hearnes Buildings". This area lay in the ecclesiastical district of St Peter Walworth, and in the borough of Lambeth. HO 107/1567. The addresses listed in the actual returns are 7 to 13 Sion Place; 1 to 20 Park Place (including Park Cottage (two)); 1 and 2 Huntsman Street; 1 to 7 Little Park Place; Park House Police Station; 1 to 4 Park Road; 1 to 16 Prior Place; 1 to 5 Brunswick Terrace; 1 to 8 and 31 to 41 Flint Street; and 1 and 2 Hearnes Buildings.

South Shropshire Poll Book: Berrington (1868)
The poll book of the election, November 1868, for the Southern Division of Shropshire, is arranged by polling district, and then by parish, township, &c., showing the votes cast (H, Herbert; C, Corbett; M, More), the number on the electoral register, and the full name of the voter, surname first. Where a person had voting qualification in more than one parish, the name is given in each place, but with a cross-reference to the parish list with the entry the vote(s) cast. At the head of each column of register numbers there is a letter in bold indicating the polling district - A, Bishop's Castle; B, Bridgnorth; C, Church Stretton; D, Cleobury Mortimer; E, Clun; F, Ludlow; G, Pontesbury; H, Shiffnal; I, Wenlock.

The Post Office Directory of Birmingham with its Suburbs, edited by E. R. Kelly, and published in 1878, has two main alphabetical lists - Court and Commercial. The suburbs included are Aston, Bickenhill Park, Birchfield End, Castle Bromwich, Erdington, Saltley (with Washwood Heath), Ward End (including Little Bromwich) and Witton, in Warwickshire; Handsworth (with Soho), Harborne, Perry Barr and Smethwick, in Staffordshire; and King's Heath, King's Norton, Moseley, Northfield, Selly Oak and Yardley (including Hall Green and Stechford) in Worcestershire. The Commercial section, indexed here, lists all manner of traders, professional people and businesses.
