About The Site
- This is a whole new different way of tackling the problem of accessing historical records for genealogical research. It will give a deep search into 1,000 years of unusual records that have not been accessible before, and make them available on-line to all.
- Searches are completely free; there is no subscription to use the site, the only charge is for scans of the actual pages where your entries appear should you wish to purchase. The records have been indexed locally by hand (no OCR). TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE RESULTS OF 10 YEARS OF CAREFUL INDEXING.
- These Original Records have been surname indexed by date year to give a Free General search or a Free Search of specific records in a single year.
- All the records can be searched using Wildcards, ensuring a harvest of variant spellings.
- Each result gives a brief description of the record, and a sample scan clipped from the main scans. When an order is placed scans (up to 10 per record) of the whole pages or spreads or articles on which we have found instances of the surname in question are produced for download.
- The scans are in PDF format, and download quickly. They are printable, and if for any reason it is necessary to download the same scan(s) again, they are retained on the site for you.
- If the user is only interested in searching a particular record, such as the roll of Jutland Bank casualties in 1917, the search can be narrowed to 1917, &c.
- Where a record relates only to a specific area, whether a manor, parish, hundred or county etc., that is indicated in the record description.
