Guarantors of the Anglican Church Congress (1892)
The 32nd annual congress of the Anglican church was held at Folkestone on the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th October 1892. Moral and social questions were discussed as well as the purely theological and ecclesiastical - The Relation between the Authority of the Bible and the Authority of the Church; the Attitude of the Church towards Labour Combinations; the Work of the Church of England on the Continent; the Result of the Neglect of Religious Instruction in Elementary Schools; Canon Law; the Duty of the Church to the Agricultural Population; Christian Ethics; Meeting of Women; the Temperance Movement; Physical Recreation; the Permanent Value of the Old Testament; Thrift and the Poor Law; Vivisection; Preparation for Clerical Orders, and of Laymen for Evangelism; Foreign Missions; the Duty of the Church towards Soldiers; Christian Doctrine and Christian Life; Preaching in the Church of England; and the Church's Work at the Seaside. The sermons, letters, addresses and discussions (of clergy and laity) were all published in this, the official report of the congress. The congress cost £1,822 14s 1d to hold; the receipts were £1,547 18s 5d, leaving a deficiency of £274 15s 8d, which was raised by call on the guarantors. The full list of the guarantors (who had each pledged from 10s to £200 beforehand) was printed in the official report, and this, together with the names of a handful of donors, is indexed here.

The Queen Victoria's South Africa Medal was awarded (after her death, in the event) to all who had served honourably in the various campaigns in the Boer War. Returns were made from each unit, and consolidated into nominal roll, of which this is the one for the Royal Artillery. Confusingly, the ledgers used had originally been printed for a register of men transferred (or re-transferred after mobilization) to 1st Class Army Reserve. All the original column headings were therefore struck through, and the roll was prepared with this information: Date of Issue; Regimental Number; Rank; Name; Unit; Medal (a 1 indicating that a medal was awarded); [number of] Clasps; the reference to the source in the original returns, usually starting with AG for papers in the hands of the Adjutant-General, and 68/Art/ for the Royal Artillery records. The final column, normally left blank, was occasionally used for explanatory remarks.

Boys entering Wellington College in Berkshire (1905)
Wellington College, near Wokingham, was originally founded for the education of sons of military officers. A register of boys entering the school from First Term 1859 to Michaelmas 1933 was compiled by F. G. Lawrence for the Old Wellingtonian Society. In each entry the boy's name is given in full, in bold, surname first; age at entry (usually 11 to 14); then, in brackets, the name of the dormitory or house to which he belonged, in italics, with the years of his stay; then his father's name (usually surname and initials, but not christian name) with military decorations where appropriate. School prefects and captains are noted as such; if the boy played cricket for the school, XI with the years; academic honours, scholarships, &c.; a brief biography; and date of death, or (where known) address in 1933. Year of marriage is given, and sometimes the wife's name and/or her father's name. Clearly, those boys who kept contact with the school and/or had distinguished military careers have detailed entries; others disappeared into oblivion on leaving.

Retired Officers of the Indian Navy (1905)
The India List and India Office List was compiled from official records by direction of the Secretary of State for India in Council, and published by the India Office annually. It covers civil servants and military except for officers drawing substantive pay of less than 500 rupees a month. Names shown in italics are those of officers in foreign service, supernumerary, seconded or employed outside their own departments. The volume for 1905 lists three surviving officers who retired before the abolition of the Indian Navy, as well as those officers who retired at the abolition, with final rank, year of appointment, and date of commission.

Naturalizations (1915)
The Home Office issued monthly lists of aliens to whom Certificates of Naturalization or Readmission to British Nationality had been granted by the Secretary of State and whose oaths of allegiance had been registered in the Home Office. These notices, from January to December 1915, refer to naturalizations from December 1914 to November 1915. The lists give full name, surname first; country of origin; date of taking the oath of allegiance; place of residence; and occupation. An dagger indicates re-admission to British nationality.

Barristers (1918)
The Law List for 1918 includes this 'List of Counsel, Special Pleaders, and Conveyancers at the Bar'. Each name is given in full, surname first; then the name of the Inn of Court as an abbreviation (G., Gray's Inn; I., Inner Temple; L., Lincoln's Inn; M., Middle Temple; and D. C. for Doctors' Commons) and date at which called to the bar. Barristers in practice are usually furnished with an address, and there are some abbreviated references to judicial awards and appointments. An asterisk signifies an Equity Draughtsman and Conveyancer.

Members of Oxford University: Men (1931)
The Oxford University Calendar for 1931 includes this list of all living members of the university, i. e. not only undergraduates and members of staff, but also all surviving graduates from earlier generations. The names are arranged alphabetically by surname, then by college in order of foundation. Surnames are given, initials, highest degree, name of college, and then the year of graduating the first degree. For undergraduates only name and college is given. An asterisk before a surname indicates a member on the foundation of the college. There are separate lists for men and women.

London Telephone Subscribers (1939)
The London telephone directory lists subscribers alphabetically by surname and then by christian name or initials, with their postal address and telephone number. This is the L to Z directory issued in May 1939, but also contains some names from earlier in the alphabet, for instance in the separate section for midwives. The London telephone districts comprised not only the city centre, but also the very extensive suburbs in the Home Counties (Essex, Kent, Surrey and Middlesex).

The Squash Rackets Association's Handbook for 1951-1952 includes lists of officers of the association, county associations and affiliated clubs, affiliated associations and overseas clubs, and individual members and junior individual members of the main association. There are also comprehensive reports and results from the Open Championship for 1950-1951, the Amateur Championship, the Professional Championship, International Matches (England v. Scotland, England v. Ireland, Scotland v. Ireland, Ireland v. Wales, Denmark v.
