(1678-1706)
Records of the colony of Rhode Island (Narragansett or King's Province) and Providence Plantations from August 1678 to October 1706 were edited by John Russell Bartlett, Secretary of State, and published by order of the General Assembly in 1858. The minutes of the general assembly have certain lacunae from those troubled times, in particular for the years 1687 to 1689 and 1691 to 1695. | Hertfordshire office holders taking communion
(1702-1706)
Under the Test Act of 1673, holders of public office were required to produce a certificate from the minister and a churchwarden of their parish church testifying that they had witnessed him receiving the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper there on a particular date. A bundle of these Sacrament Certificates survives among the Hertfordshire sessions records: this list shows, as well as the name and address of the communicant, the names of the minister and churchwarden and the church in question. | Sample scan, click to enlarge

This edition of Rugby School Register was published in 1933: the volume covering 1675 to 1857 contains 6480 entries, based on the original school admission registers, but elaborated with general biographical information wherever the editor was able to do so. The entries for the 17th and early 18th centuries are much less detailed than those for later years. The arrangement of the fullest entries was to give the boy's full name (surname first, in bold); whether eldest, second, &c., son; father's name and address as of when the boy entered school; the boy's age at entry and birthday; name of the house (in the school) to which he belonged; then a brief general biography; and date and place of death. | Sample scan, click to enlarge

(1674-1708)
Charles Talbot, earl and duke of Shrewsbury, served as Secretary of State, and this material includes his correspondence in that capacity from 1694 to 1700. He then proceeded on an extended tour of the Continent, from 1700 to 1706, of which he kept this journal.
