(1860-1870) The 74th (Highland) Regiment of Foot left Ireland in 1851; by 1860 it was serving in India. It returned to England and Scotland in 1864: the regimental depot was at Aberdeen. In 1866 the regiment was sent to Ireland; from there in 1868 to Gibraltar. Each year just a handful of outstanding soldiers of the regiment were chosen for good conduct medals and gratuities: these are listed here.
